Betekenis federale verkiezingen
Een federale kieskring, ook wel unitaire kieskring of transnationale kieslijst genoemd, verwijst naar een hypothetisch kiesstelsel waarbij kiezers naast kandidaten uit hun eigen deelgebieden ook kandidaten op federaal niveau kunnen verkiezen. Voorstanders hopen hiermee partijen en politici te stimuleren om over grenzen heen campagne te voeren. De huidige federale regering - ook wel de Vivaldi-coalitie genoemd - bestaat uit 7 partijen: PS, Vooruit, Open VLD, MR, CD&V, Groen en Ecolo. Nooit waren er zoveel partijen nodig om aan een meerderheid van de zetels te komen. Betekenis federale verkiezingen Bij de Europese verkiezingen in België worden er 22 leden (aantal ) aangeduid voor het Europees Parlement. De verkiezingen voor dit parlement in België worden georganiseerd door federale overheid. De verkiezingen worden per taalgroep gehouden.
